After numerous attempts over the years, an agreement was struck with the City of Zurich allowing a new development to be created on the site of Villa Mainau, and the listed 1922 cinema next door to be fully renovated. The former Kino Razzia, one of Zurich’s first movie theaters, shared a turbulent history with Villa Mainau. Before the villa was replaced by a new building and the listed Kino Razzia was fully renovated, we worked with booksellers Orell Füssli from September 1-30, 2011, to give visitors one last look at the esteemed building in its original condition. «The Walk-In Book» allowed visitors to discover books with all of their senses for a whole month!

The first apartments were occupied on May 1st, 2014, with Restaurant Razzia opening its doors to guests on May 13th, 2014.
