Transformation of the listed office building by Haefeli Moser Steiger, an architectural icon from 1967, in which elegant material aesthetics captivate and architecture and park landscape intertwine, into a high-quality residential building.
The convincing transformation, which respects the existing structure, was achieved with moderate, precisely placed interventions that preserve the spaciousness of the rooms. These included converting the window sashes into floor-to-ceiling French doors, replacing the horizontal parapet with a pure glass balustrade, adding a new layer of balconies facing the park to fill the living spaces with air and light, installing skylights that extend into the second attic floor, connecting the maisonette rooms over two floors, color cuts that lend lightness to the strong static structures, and the demolition of the excessively high garages to create new, additional garden floors.
The transformation, led by Tilla Theus, followed the credo of Haefeli Moser Steiger, namely the interpenetration of architecture and park landscape.
As a tribute to the construction period, stylistic elements of the 1960s were elegantly combined with exclusive finishes and modern architecture of today. Each of the 23 apartments has its own floor plan and is unique.
